TRICH

This is a solo show about living with trichotillomania. You might not know what that is, but don’t worry, I’ll tell you when you get here. You’ll meet a teenage girl with an undeniable secret that no one seems to notice, so she hides in her basement cubicle wondering if anyone will come downstairs. Whoa, did that get too dark too fast? Let’s try this again: TRICH is a depressing super fun show about mental health, isolation, and forging a path toward recovery through humor, vulnerability, and far too many 90s references.

TRICH first captivated audiences as the top-selling play at the 2021 United Solo Theatre Festival in NYC, garnering both the Best Actress and Audience Choice Awards. It has since gone on to multiple sold-out regional runs along the East Coast, including two productions at Luna Stage, where it was named one of the top New Jersey shows of 2023 by NJArts, prompting a three-week encore the following year. You can learn more about the full production history here.

Beyond the stage, TRICH has also become an advocacy tool, performing at mental health conferences, including a keynote appearance at the 2025 National Alliance on Mental Illness Pennsylvania State Conference plus the 2024 TLC Foundation for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors Conference in Washington, D.C.

Representation for BFRBs in the arts is extremely rare, and TRICH has become a meaningful entry point for awareness, connection, and destigmatization. Mental health professionals who have attended have spoken about the play’s value as a tool for empathy, education, and conversation. Read a selection of testimonials from clinicians and therapists here.

Turns out, what you think isolates you the most is actually the path toward deeper connection.
